No Kill Colorado is asking animal shelters across the state to take a pledge not to kill any savable animals on June 11, 2013. For Just One Day, “Euthanasia Technicians” will put down their syringes and pick up cameras. Instead of injecting animals with lethal doses of sodium pentobarbital, they will photograph them and post them on the Internet, on Facebook, on Twitter.
On June 11, 2013, they will market their animals to the public, they will reach out to rescue groups, they will host adoption events with discounted rates, they will stay open for extended hours, and they will ask their communities to help them empty the shelter the good way.
No Kill Colorado started a petition to get Governor Hickenlooper to support the animal life-saving event “Just One Day”, urging animal shelters across Colorado to take a pledge not to kill any salable animals on June 11, 2013
It has spurned a few other petitions and it is exciting to see Colorado being a leader in this initiative. Let’s hope we can make Just One Day the safest for homeless shelter pets in the history of Colorado.
Then maybe we can do it the next day.
Below are all other petitions we know are also looking to get petitions signed for Just One Day. If you are from those states, please sign them. And if not, sign them anyway and give them an added boost. If you know of another, please put it in the comments.
